Help for Paying Your Electric Bills

When your income won’t stretch any further, there’s help. Programs are available for both emergency bill payment assistance and long-term relief.

The Power to Care

Entergy, its employees and its customers regularly contribute to The Power to Care, a special fund that provides emergency utility assistance for elderly and disabled customers. The Salvation Army and our partners in this assistance program, use money from the fund to help pay the electric bills of qualifying customers.

The LIHEAP Program

LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) is a program that provides money to help individuals with energy bills and other energy-related expenses. LIHEAP is funded through the federal government and works with the community action agencies to help customers pay for and keep electric service in their homes. For information on how to apply for assistance, call 1-800-421-0761 or visit the state Division of Community Services Web site. For a list of LIHEAP agencies, click here.

United Way 2-1-1 program

2-1-1 is an easy to remember phone number that connects individuals with resources in their community. Not sure where to find help? 2-1-1 offers information on a number of services, including rent assistance, food banks, affordable housing, health resources, child care, after-school programs, elderly care, financial literacy, and job training programs.
